Georgia Herpetological Association & Rescue
Volunteer Spotlight:
Jennifer McCant
(and family)
We appreciate every single volunteer who spends time helping the rescue, but we want to take a moment to especially thank Jennifer! Jennifer is integral to our group being able to help reptiles in need in South Georgia, where she is located, but beyond that, she assists with helping our volunteer foster homes by providing them with assistance through our virtual platform, which has a far bigger reach than she may imagine. If you are a volunteer, you likely speak to Jennifer about your foster animal! Besides being a volunteer with GHAR, she is a public school teacher and hosts "Critter Club" through her school, which educates her students about both indigenous and pet reptiles. Thank you for your commitment to helping GHAR, Jennifer!

Ready to Help?

We are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to work at our main location in Rockmart, GA, and/or serve as foster homes for animals in our program. If you have a special skill or need volunteer/service hours, fill out the link below.
We have work days at our Rockmart location at least once a month to help care for our animals, build enclosures, and reorganize materials. We have a lot of work to do, but we always have a good time doing it, and it's a great way to meet more like-minded individuals passionate about helping animals.
Teen volunteers must be at least 16 years old with written parental permission and must attend the orientation with a parent or legal guardian. All volunteers (except those fostering) must be available to work at least one shift at the rescue in Rockmart per month to remain active volunteers. We host many fun reptile shows and educational events all over Georgia, but only volunteers who meet the requirements at the rescue are eligible to work the specific events.
